Liu Jiacen, born in May 1996, is a student at the School of Energy and Environmental Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing, grade 2014, majoring in Energy Dynamics. Now she has been recommended to Tsinghua University to study directly for her doctoral degree.

As far as her studies were concerned, she has never relaxed her demands on herself in the four years of college. Surrounded by a strong learning atmosphere, she has been adhering to the rigorous and serious attitude towards learning, and her grades have always been among the best. Her scores of professional courses are all above 90 points. She has been awarded Beijing Merit Student, People's Special Scholarship, People's First-class Scholarship, Freshmen Second-class Scholarship, and many other honors.

She has also participated in many science and technology competitions and achieved excellent results. She participated in two undergraduate science and technology innovations (SRTP), one of which was to study the effect of different positions of air conditioners on temperature control in confined spaces. They used the dormitory as the restricted space for the study and used fluent software to simulate the temperature field in the dormitory when the air conditioner was at different positions. And they compared their results with the measured results to reach their conclusions. She learned from the project how to analyze problems, use tools to solve problems, and analyze simulation results. 

In the 10th National College Students Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Competition, she and her team designed an indirect evaporative cooling device driven by solar energy. During the competition, which lasted for more than half a year, they changed the topic midway, started all over again, and discussed together until the early morning. Through their continuous efforts, finally won the second prize for good results. As a result of this contest, she said she was more prudent and careful in doing things, more comprehensive and rigorous in thinking about problems, and also gained a group of diligent and intelligent partners.

She also participated in many other competitions and won many honors, such as the second prize twice in the National College Students English Competition, the third prize in the 11th "Tianjia Environmental Science and Technology Cup" Science and Technology Competition for College Students in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning industry in China, and the second prize in the 11th "Danfoss Cup" Science and Technology Competition for College Students in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning in North China, etc.

In terms of student work, she served as Deputy Secretary of the Party branch, secretary of the Student Union of the College of Mechanics, etc. She took each of her tasks seriously and accomplished them satisfactorily. Due to her outstanding comprehensive performance, she has won many honors and awards, such as Outstanding Communist Youth League Cadre of USTB and Outstanding Merit Student of USTB.

In the second semester of her junior year, she attended the Tsinghua-Princeton Burning Academic Summer Camp hosted by Tsinghua University. She came into contact with famous burning scholars from Europe. The teacher's on-site explanation and demonstration, let her feel the fun of burning learning. Besides, she also met more than 30 outstanding students from all over the country. This exchange strengthened her faith in pursuing an academic career.

She will also try her best to live up to her Alma mater's training and guidance. She will never forget her original intention and forge ahead in her study, scientific research, and life.
