I am He Peidong from Hunan Province. I came to USTB in September 2018 with enthusiasm, majoring in Environmental Engineering at the School of Energy and Environmental Engineering (SEEE). During my first two years studying in USTB, I got very high scores in most of the courses and kept pursuing my dreams. For examples, I won the prize of ‘The Chinese Mathematics Competitions’,the first prize of the National physical competition for college students in China and the first prize of Beijing mathematical modeling contest. Under my persistent efforts ,I got National scholarship for two consecutive years.

As an old saying goes,’The early bird catches the worm’, my study always goes ahead of others. After entering USTB, I was determined to study hard. As a freshman, I was interested in learning English, from which I can have an understanding of the outside world and enrich my knowledge as well. I passed CET-4 in the first half of freshman year and got a good grade of 548 points in CET-6 in the next half of the year. I think the secret to my brilliant English performance lies on my enthusiasm for English and my insisting on reciting words every day. What makes me proud is that I have a unique understanding of mathematics and physics, which makes me win many awards in the subject competition and score high marks in these courses. Although there are always difficulties on the way to study, I will keep on fighting.

In my sophomore year, I participated in many scientific research projecs such a Beijing municipal Student Research Training Program and hold the post of team leader. Along with my teammates, we consulted a large number of related literatures and did a lot of experiments. We often failed, but we never got discouraged. As a result, our experiment has achieved good results, which made us very excited. From the experience of this experiment, I learned that where there is a will, there is a way.

In the summer vacation of sophomore year , I took part in the 70th National Day parade, which is an unforgettable experience for me. We trained for three months. At the beginning, it was hard to keep going with a huge amount of training. As the time went, I gradually enjoyed training with some intimate friends and instructors. On the National Day ,we met and greeted to the president Xi, and so did he.What a nice experience!

What’s more, I am very warm-hearted and enthusiastic about life. It’s extremely satisfied for me to help my classmates to deal with some difficult problems encountered in learning process. My life is also colorful as I took part in the basketball match and football match in my freshman year. I hold the view that truly excellent peaple must be all round developed,and never forget the original intention and press ahead.
