Xu Qian, from Liaoning Province, enrolled at the University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2009. He received his Bachelor's degree in Building and Environmental Equipment Engineering from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. In 2013, he changed his Bachelor's degree major to Thermal Science and Energy Engineering in the School of Energy and Environmental Engineering and began his postgraduate and doctoral studies. During his undergraduate studies, he won various honors such as Excellent Communist Youth League Member Cadre and Outstanding Student Cadre. During his postgraduate period, he won the honors of "Outstanding Merit Graduate student", "Outstanding Cadre of Graduate Student", "Top ten Student Building leader", etc. Moreover, he won the National Scholarship for Doctoral Students, "Merit Student of Beijing", "Top Ten Academic Star of USTB Award" etc. At present, he remained as a distinguished Associate Professor at USTB in the School of Energy and Environmental Environment.

Research experience: "Learning is always the priority".

During his undergraduate study, he majored in the design theory and optimization research of air conditioning and gas water supply and drainage system in buildings, which laid a solid theoretical foundation for his future research life. Because of his love for the knowledge of economics and management, he also studied for the double degree of information management and information system organized by the School of Economics and Management.

After graduating from the University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2013, he chose to continue his 1+4 Masters and Doctoral studies with Feng Junxiao, a teacher in the Energy-saving Technology group. During his study, he worked hard and actively participated in various research projects as required by his tutor. Up to now, he has participated in four national longitudinal projects and four million-plus horizontal projects as a backbone, of which two major projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology are still in research. During the fourth year of his Ph.D. study, he went to the University of Birmingham in the UK for an exchange study. He conducted scientific research with Professor Ding Yulong, Professor of Cryogenic Storage at the Royal College of Engineering and special expert of the First National Thousand Talents Program.

In terms of scientific researches, he has published 12 high-level papers as a first author including 6 SCI papers (3 SCI papers in the first region, 3 SCI papers in the second region) and 6 EI papers, with a total impact factor of over 24, of which 5 are TOP journals in the field of thermal energy. Also, he has co-authored several papers with other authors.

After-school Life: "To be a Well-rounded Chinese youth"

He had been the head of the Doctor's apartment building for nearly three years. During this period, he set up an efficient and responsible team to provide life and scientific research services for Ph.D. students. He is also the Party secretary of Apartment No. 2. He has also has set up a Party Branch of the second student apartment building, demonstrating the exemplary role of doctoral students. Besides scientific research, he also has a wide range of hobbies. He has won the musical instrument class Erhu level 10, the national football second-class player honor.

Inspiration: " The dream still needs to have, if realized?"

"To learn, to interrogate, to think carefully, to discern, to practice earnestly" were his academic ideals. He firmly believes that "To be a down-to-earth person and to work diligently". He said, in the future, he will continue to work hard and make contributions to the motherland.
