Congratulations to our college's "Environmental Engineering Microbiology" course for being the first batch of national first-class undergraduate courses
On October 29, 2020, the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education issued a public announcement on the results of the first batch of national first-class undergraduate courses. After the application and recommendation of various provincial education administrative departments and universities, the Ministry of Education organized network review and conference review, a total of 3560 courses were recognized as the first batch of national-level first-class undergraduate courses. Among them, the offline course "Environmental Engineering Microbiology" led by Prof. Lin Hai from the School of Energy and Environmental Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing won the first batch of national first-class undergraduate courses. Other key members of the course team include Dong Yingbo, Li Bing, and He Yinhai.
The course of "Environmental Engineering Microbiology" mainly introduces how to breed microbial strains for environmental pollution control, how to use molecular biology and other means to carry out the targeted transformation of environmental microorganisms, the principle and path of the degradation and transformation of pollutants by microorganisms, and the principles and processes of microorganisms in industrial and domestic sewage purification, air pollution control, urban and mining solid waste treatment and recycling, and soil remediation. This course adheres to the organic integration of knowledge mastery, ability training, and quality improvement, which cultivates students' logical thinking ability, problem-oriented innovation ability and negative thinking innovation ability, cultivates students' comprehensive ability and advanced thinking to solve complex environmental engineering problems using basic theories of environmental microorganisms, and further strengthens students' sense of responsibility and mission in environmental protection.
